Beaufort Kennel Club helps first responders save pets with life saving masks

What happens to your pet dog or cat if it is rescued from a burning building and needs to be resuscitated with oxygen? Up until now the answer was that first responders from the fire department had the difficult, perhaps impossible, challenge of administering oxygen to them.
Oxygen masks used for humans do not fit the muzzles of dogs or cats. For the past year or so, Beaufort Kennel Club (BKC) has been raising funds through donations to supply all first responder units north of the Broad River with oxygen mask kits specially designed for use on animals.

Each kit contains masks of three sizes to accommodate most dogs and cats. Poopie Trooper, a Hilton Head business, previously completed a similar project for the fire departments south of the Broad River. Beaufort Kennel Club has now delivered 26 kits to fire departments covering northern Beaufort County.
The leaders of Beaufort Kennel Club thank all members of our community who contributed to this worthy cause.
